Cool things about the Fremont Festival
The Festival of the Arts Keeps Getting Greener and Greener!
The Chamber of Commerce continues its efforts to make the Festival of the Arts more environmentally friendly. This year, we are pleased to be working with Nothing Wasted, a company that helps organizations and events reduce their waste footprint through careful planning and implementation of waste management processes and educational outreach.
At the 2012 Festival of Arts, we will once again provide three types of waste disposal bins - for organic waste, recyclables, and plain-old-trash – in order to divert the maximum amount of material from the landfill. Collection centers will be located strategically throughout the Festival in the intersections where food courts are located.
We also know that it is not always easy to determine which waste goes in which container, so City of Fremont Environmental Services staff will be on hand to help educate Festival patrons on what goes where, aided by a team of volunteers from local non-profit organizations. Nothing Wasted will also be on site to help with these efforts.
All food vendors at the Festival will serve food in recyclable or compostable containers, instead of Styrofoam™ takeout containers.
Help us make this festival our greenest yet, and have fun in the sun!
